The scene The bar has massive windows that are kept open during the summer, perfect if you fancy admiring the street art on the walls outside or doing some people watching as you sip a cocktail or two. You should definitely be drinking cocktails here, as they’re tip top.

The bar staff really are pros, and happy to whizz you up something off the menu, make recommendations or even let you in on a secret mixologist’s tip or two.

The grub Eating’s cheating, right? Well it isn’t, that would be irresponsible. Nevertheless, the only grub you’ll find here is olives and nuts.

Behind the bar Choose tipples such as the Effen Blind, which is made with black cherry vodka, cranberry juice and fruit purees, or the Sailor’s Daiquiri, with its healthy slug of spiced rum. There’s also an interesting array of spirits, classics and premiums varieties, and an array of obscure flavoured and infused liquors, plus draft and bottled beers and a reasonable wine list.

Bill please Cocktails from £7.50; spirits from £3.80/ £6 (25ml/ 50ml).

Verdict A surprisingly unpretentious atmosphere, great drinks and pleasant staff – what more could you ask for?
