Victoria Beckham is in agony after slipping a disc during childbirth, meaning she is in too much pain to hold her new baby Harper Seven and may not be well in time for New York Fashion Week.

The slipped disc explains why Victoria Beckham has not been seen for the last few weeks, since giving birth to Harper Seven.

Rumour had it that the former Spice Girl was in hiding, exercising desperately as she tried to lose her baby weight.

However, according to her spokesperson, this couldn’t be further from the truth and, in fact, Victoria has been laid up recovering from her slipped disc.

Apparently Victoria was already suffering from a bad back and she managed to slip a disc as she gave birth to Harper Seven.

Medics and chiropractors have been treating Mrs Beckham at her Malibu home. Next month, New York Fashion Week kicks off and Victoria is planning to showcase her Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

A source said: “Rumours Victoria has been frantically exercising and trying to lose her baby weight could not be further from the truth.

“The cruel reality is she was suffering with a bad back throughout her pregnancy, and then something untoward happened during the C-section, badly aggravating it. She has had an X-ray which showed she has slipped a disc in her lower back. Victoria is in a lot of pain and even struggling to hold Harper.

“She is really down about the whole thing as she just wants to be able to play with her daughter like any new mum.

“When she goes to breastfeed, David has to basically prop-up the baby. But Victoria is trying to remain upbeat because she really does feel so blessed with the birth of her beautiful daughter. She is determined not to let this injury overshadow the happiness surrounding Harper’s arrival.”

Meanwhile it has been revealed that Victoria Beckham will produce her own special edition Range Rover.

She is working for Range Rover as a design consultant for its newest model, the Evoque.

Range Rover director Phil Popham said a limited edition Beckham-styled Evoque is on the way.

"We will work on editions that will have a Victoria Beckham edge to it," Popham said.

"But just as importantly, she's giving her view and experience sharing that with our designers generally in terms of not just the look, but the materials, the fabrics, what we think is premium verses what she thinks in premium as a consumer of luxury goods.

"She's also a Range Rover owner as well. Her and David Beckham have owned a number of Range Rovers and they have personally commissioned the interiors of their cars as well. So they like the brand, they're into the brand already.

"They like cars. They live the premium life, they're got a good eye for premium products and we're picking her brains in that respect."
