As the newbie was being introduced by his co-anchor Van Tieu he dropped both an F-bomb and an S-bomb.
Then in the viral video he proceeds to match his profanities with mundanities when asked to tell the viewers a little bit about himself: “I’m used to, you know, from being from the East Coast.” Way to relate to the viewers champ.
To his credit, he moved on to a story about a car crash – surely not a comment on his debut.
The station apologised soon after on its Facebook page.
News Director Monica Hannan wrote: “I want to apologize for an incident that occurred prior to our early newscast this evening, when one of our employees used profanity on air”, adding: “He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse.”
Poor old AJ got suspended after the incident, but it’s said the popularity of the clip could save him.
A Twitter hashtag #keepAJ shows support he’s received.
The man of the moment tweeted: “That couldn’t have gone any worse.”

UPDATE: Despite web-wide support, Clemente has been sacked.
Unfortunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go. Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support.
