The Aussie PM came a cropper while on a visit to the Gandhi Memorial and laughed it off like a trooper.
“It’s OK… I’m alright… My heel got stuck in grass,” she said as her worried escorts surrounded her.
She joked that the perils of heels – even relatively small ones – were an occupational hazard as a woman in politics.
“For men who get to wear flat shoes all day every day, if you wear a heel it can get embedded in soft grass and when you pull your foot out the shoe doesn’t come and the rest of it is as you saw,” she explained to the mostly male crowd.
Gillard has been well-recieved in India, by women in particular after her slating of Tony Abbott in parliament went viral.
