Lopez (pictured above in 2010) was competing in the 5000metre event in California on Sunday, his first time at such a distance, when he stunned viewers, with his dubious maths and the fact that speeding in for what he thought was his final lap, he still managed not only to win the race but to set a world best in the event for this year.
Lopez powered home more than half a lay ahead of his competitors, and strode across what he thought was the finishing line, however there was one lap left to go. The audience cheered and motioned for him to continue, with the commentators stunned at what they were witnessing.
Their disbelief was to be confounded by the fact that Lopez still managed to go on to win the race, and by quite some margin too. Definitely one to look out for in the summer.
