The stunning illusion is among a series of dynamic light shows being projected upon more than 50 of Sydney’s iconic buildings over two weeks.

In the fourth year of the free event, the ‘sails’ of the Sydney Opera House have been the canvas for an array of 3D light displays, including dancers beamed across the landmark.

Also, the sails were obscured by the night sky as the light show projected geometric shapes that built up, then crumbled away, as if the building was collapsing.

The brainchild behind the installation was German design company Urbanscreen.

Crowds have been gathering in the Circular Quay area each night to appreciate the Vivid Lights spectacle, which is to be shown each night until June 11.
