A lawyer recently met with a 23-year-old man that claims he and 45-year-old Kevin Clash, the voice of Elmo, were having a relationship for seven years.
Clash admits that he did have a relationship with the man, but he strongly denies that he had a relationship with the man when he was underage.
It’s thought that the accuser had gone directly to the Sesame Workshop. TMZ quoted a source from the Sesame Workshop: “This was a personal relationship, unrelated to the workplace. We took the allegation very seriously and took immediate action.”
After the complaint directly to Sesame Workshop the accuser booked lawyers Andreozzi and Associates. In August this year the firm allegedly sent a letter to Sesame Workshop that alluded to the fact they were trying to “discredit the victim in order to protect its employee and the image of one of its most valuable characters,” it continues “This approach places a greater value on a puppet than the well being of a young man.”
The Sesame Workshop explained to TMZ: “Kevin insists that these allegations are false and defamatory and he has taken actions to protect his reputation. We have granted him a leave of absence to do so.”
It’s believed that the only thing Clash was disciplined for was the inappropriate use of company email.
