The scene: With its rustic brickwalls and quirky yellow dining chairs, this funky yet classy upmarket grill succeeds at infusing the modern with the old. Instantly likeable.

The grub: Meat-lovers, this is your Mecca – rib eye steaks, scotch rumps and sirloins galore, cooked to perfection (it even got the thumbs up from a fussy South African carnivore).

For starters have the Fresh Grilled Squid with rocket and parmesan before moving onto the 10oz rib steak for mains (the melt in the mouth stuff). If there’s still room, try the Exploding Chocolate Mousse sprinkled with Space Dust for dessert – it will make you feel like you’re five again, and, when it starts to crackle in your mouth, it’s bound to make you chuckle.

Bill please: We ain’t going to fool you dear readers, dining out here comes at a price, but it sure is worth every penny. Mains are between £9.50 and £24.50 plus £3 per side-order.

Verdict: Sleek and elegant – both venue and food.

4/5
