Hawksmoor, Seven Dials

Having scooped the title of ‘Best Sunday Lunch In The UK’ from the Observer Food Monthly, roasts don’t come any more highly recommended than this. Kick off with a Bloody Mary before delving into a tasty rump of longhorn beef with all the trimmings. Expect crisp duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds “the size of dustbin lids” and lashings of bone marrow and onion gravy. Situated at the site of the old Watney-Combe brewery, the venue itself is worth a visit, with chemistry lab-top bar tables, original vaulted brick ceilings and tiles sourced from London Underground.
