Gordon and Blossom Hoyles decided that instead of selling their 14-bedroom hotel in the seaside town of Harwich, Essex, they would offer it out in an exciting raffle.
This is the perfect opportunity if you’ve always fancied yourself as a bit of a Basil Fawlty. It could also be a fantastic step onto the property ladder – and a damn cheap one with tickets going for £1,000 each.
The Hotel Continental is no run-down shit hole (as you might expect) either – it’s immaculately presented, featuring originally designed interiors and stunning artwork.
Anyone looking to get into the hotel industry, or hoping to pass on a lucrative business to their family would be incredibly lucky to get their hands on this creatively designed hotel. Historical Harwich with its stunning sea walks and non-commercialised blue flag beaches could be a great place for your new life too.
If you’ve been getting your deposit together to start your own business, then you might think about taking a small chunk out of it for this game of chance.
The lucky prize winner’s life could be drastically altered by the hotel, presenting them with a fantastic and profitable business on the seaside. So, you may want to ditch those dreams of an ice-cream van and start thinking bigger.
The current owners of the hotel, Gordon and Blossom, starred in the Channel 4 TV programme “Four in the Bed” – so if you’re an avid fan you might already have seen the property. It’s very popular with locals as well as holidaymakers looking to extend their cruising holiday from Harwich.
When asked about their unique decision, poet and entrepreneur Gordon said: “We didn’t want to sell the usual way for a number of reasons: After 18 years running The Hotel Continental we feel it has come of age and it is time for us to leave home. In addition we have been told that it could take up to two years to find a buyer and we don’t have that much time to wait.”
The winner of the prize draw will be picked electronically and will be informed by email after the announcement. Gordon and Blossom are planning for the draw to take place on 1st May, 2015.
“We want to go out with a bang and for the lucky prize draw winner to win the prize of a lifetime,” added Gordon.
