Pensioner Robert Fitzpatrick is warning everyone that the world will end on May 21 by spending his life savings on an advertising campaign.

The retired 60-year-old has spent $140,000 into the New York City Transit advertising campaign.

The adverts read: “Global Earthquake! The Greatest Ever – Judgment Day: May 21”, printed above a photo of Jerusalem with a clock about to strike midnight.

“I’m trying to warn people about what’s coming,” the Staten Island resident said. “People who have an understanding [of end times] have an obligation to warn everyone.”

The adverts have appeared on 1000 placards on subway cars to the tune of $90,000 and at bus shelters for $50,000.

Fitzpatrick is a follower of Californian evangelist Harold Camping’s “end of day” predictions. Camping decided that doomsday is May 21 after working out some complex numerological calculations.

This isn’t the first time Camping has predicted the end of the world. He also predicated that the world would end on September 6 1994.
