What’s the show this week about?
It’s a new material night. For me this means frantically writing new jokes and testing them on an unsuspecting audience! Hopefully most of them will be funny.
Who inspired you to pick up a mic?
A few years ago I was improvising with a fantastic comic called Rob Broderick. He’d come up with brilliant new act Abandoman in which he incorporated freestyle rap with audience suggestions. He gave me the confidence to get on stage by myself and give stand-up a go!
What’s the most tricky thing about musical comedy?
Finding a concept for a song that is funny enough to last for three (ish) minutes! If it’s not got legs those few minutes can feel like hours.
What is the funniest thing you have seen this week?
A really trippy cartoon about wolves that my niece was watching, in which the wolves did a Bollywood dance. I don’t think it was meant to be funny though.
