Competitors in the women’s beach volleyball may opt to ditch the skimpy, flesh-revealing bikini attire for a more conservative t-shirts and leggings combo because of the poor weather.
“Once the temperature drops below 16 degrees celcius we are allowed to wear leggings and long-sleeved tops,” British volleyball competitor Shauna Mullin says, much to the disappointment no doubt of the legions of fans who made the women’s competition one of the most sought after tickets at the Games.
“I’m sure there are a few people who will watch for only one reason,” her teammate Zara Dampney added.
“But I think people should come along anyway.”
The weather is set to continue its current unseasonal slump with rain forecast for much of the games period.
