Philanthropist Paris Hilton has found herself accused of making homophobic remarks after a New York cabbie recorded a conversation between her and a male friend in which she said most gay men “probably have AIDS”.
Hilton has been at new York Fashion week when she was travelling in a NYC taxi with a gay male friend, when the cabbie decided to record their conversation, as US gossip website Radaronline reports.
“Gay guys are the horniest people in the world,” the reality TV star and heiress is heard as saying. “They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS.”
A spokesperson for Hilton has said that: “Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease. The conversation became heated after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex.
The cab driver who recorded this only provided a portion of the conversation. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about al gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation.”
