The much-anticipated The Dark Knight Rises film received raving reviews after a pre-screening event last week in Los Angeles, with the 40-50 bloggers and fans rising to their feet in enthusiastic applause at the film’s conclusion.

The viewers were forbidden to write any reviews of the film until it premieres on July 20th. Despite this warning, their glowing reviews of the film spread rapidly across social networking sites, though many of the comments quickly and mysteriously disappeared.

“If this does not break the mould and win Best Picture, no comic book movie ever will,” said one critic of the movie who snuck in a quick review.

On Sunday, Warner Bros also released a 13-minute behind-the-scenes featurette to promote the upcoming film.

The movie is the conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy, following Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008).

The film takes place eight years after the conclusion of the previous film, The Dark Knight, as Batman emerges from retirement to combat new threats to Gotham City.

Critics have said to be Christian Bale’s (Batman) best performance of the trilogy, with all of the other actors receiving glowing reviews as well. Newly introduced villains include Bane (Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).

The film opens on July 20, with no midnight showings in the UK due to Warner Bros concerns with time zone differences with the United States.
