In what is surely the worst news for Gunners fans since Fabregas was pictured in a Barcelona shirt a couple of years back, the Manchester Evening News are reporting that Robin Van Persie could sign for Man Utd as early as this evening.
The talisman is set to move away from the Emirates, with MEN reporting that they understand Fergie has moved into pole position as the most likely receiver of Van Persie’s signature ahead of the new season.
Van Persie had intimated his desire to move away from Arsenal, with Manchester City and Juventus in the running for the current Footballer of the Year.
However, City manager Mancini has all but conceded defeat to his Manchester rivals earlier this week, admitting that it was ‘unlikely’ that Van Persie would be joining the current Premier League champs, with Italian giants Juventus also dropping further down the race.
Were he to make a move from north London to United, Van Persie would form half of a striker partnership with Wayne Rooney, surely a combo that will put even the slightest bit of doubt into Mancini’s men and their quest for dominance in English football.
