In honour of the Team GB star, a woman who missed going to the Olympics because she went into labour has named her new daughter after gold medal winner.
Emily Lee, 29, from Wiltshire, would have watched Ennis win her hepathlon gold if she had not gone into labour. She gave birth to a daughter later that day.
According to the new mum, her newborn was shown a replay of Ennis winning gold and promptly names Jennifer.
Ennis tweeted her congratulations after hearing the news.
Other unofficial honours have come Ennis’s way after Jamie Oliver invited her to dinner and she found herself mentioned on Eastenders.
Less pleasantly, a gold postbox to commemorate the achievements of the gold medal-winner Ennis was vandalised only hours after it was erected.
@j_ennis My niece was born 20 mins before your Gold. She’s named after you!! Is there any way you could send her a mesage from her namesake?— claire croxall (@madamecrox) August 7, 2012
@madamecrox@j_ennis that was lucky, as Usain Bolt is a terrible name for a girl.— Steve Shanyaski (@steveshanyaski) August 7, 2012
