Parliament has issued a statement today outlining changes to a handful of immigration rules. The changes should make the visa process easier for certain segments of the population. In particular, they seem to favour skilled workers.
Additional places have been added for talented MBA graduates from UK Higher Education Institutions, and PhD students will get to stay in the UK a year after completing their course, to allow them to find skilled work or to set up as an entrepreneur. There is also a new protection route to recognize stateless persons.
The effects will come into effect April 6, 2013.
