Kevin Rudd's famous cat Jasper, has died, aged nine (only 52 in cat years).
Jasper shot to fame as the star of as Australia's former prime minister self-penned children's books.
Rudd tweeted notification of Jasper's untimely passing: "Just a note to all our animal loving friends out there - our much loved family member Jasper the cat passed away yesterday at home," Mr Rudd posted.
"Thanks from me, Therese and our kids for all your well wishes in recent months while our little guy was battling on."
It was no secret that Jasper had been unwell for sometime after suffering kidney failure.
Tragically Rudd was travelling in Europe when his Jasper died.
