Parish and Harvey have been working together for years, but A Woman A Man Walked By is a more equal collaboration: Parish wrote the music and played all the guitars, while Harvey sang and provided the lyrics.
The album has its moments, among them the swampy radio-rock of Black-Hearted Love and the dark but rather funny Pig Will Not.
But it’s hard to shake the feeling that Harvey’s a better songwriter when left alone. WILL FULFORD-JONES
