Kevin May
How did you get into your line of work?
Through local press, then business magazines – now writing about two things I enjoy the most: travel and technology.
What do you do day-to-day?
Run the entire editorial operation at Tnooz, including organising content for our events.
What’s the most exciting part of your role?
Old fashioned – getting good stories.
Give us an overview of what you’ll be discussing at ABiC:
Four significant trends in how the travel industry is evolving.
What type of companies/individuals will find your talk relevant?
Anyone with a responsibility for or involved in distribution, product, marketing, search, social media/commerce.
How will they benefit from it?
Understand how they can position their businesses to take advantage of the some of the major changes taking place now and over the course of the next 12-18 months.
In your field, what exciting developments will 2012 bring?
Further expansion of mobile services, better understanding of new distribution channels for travel products.
How best can the travel industry use social media and the internet?
Embrace social media, but only where and when relevant. The idea of a travel company not using the web in some way in 2011 is quite scary.
What’s your favourite travel destination?
Nepal.
Where’s your favourite place in London?
The Gate restaurant in Hammersmith.
Sum up the capital in five words:
Dreary, exciting, chaotic, frustrating, diverse.
