A 17-year-old accused of killing a pensioner showed his pregnant sister the dead body.

The teenager, who can't be named for legal reasons, denies murdering 67-year-old David Cowley last November.

The accused's sister told Lincoln Crown Court that her brother took her to a remote spot off Mareham Lane in Sleaford, where she saw the deceased.

The prosecution argue that the teenager planned to rob the openly gay pensioner after arranging to meet for sex.

Cowley had offered money and mobile phone top-ups to the teen in exchange for sex.

Amjad Malik QC told the jury that after asphyxiating the pensioner, the youth stole the dead man's Smart car, a mobile phone, a ring and some other belongings.

The teen's sister told the court that her brother told her he had something to show her.

When they arrived at the scene at night, it was very dark.

She said: "It was pretty frightening. I saw this person on the floor. I didn't want to look. It was pretty frightening.

"I laughed. I was about to give birth to my little boy and there was this dead man in front of me. It didn't seem real. It didn't really sink in that there was a dead person there."

The trial continues.
