According to reports, Amanda Knox has met with publishers and promised them she is prepared to give an honest account of the events that lead to her arrest for the murder of Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy, five years ago.

Since being cleared of the killing and released back to her home in the U.S., Knox has remained silent about her ordeal and little is known about her side of the events.

Knox’s rectitude has now paid off and, with a public clamouring to hear details of the relationships surrounding the Mereditch Kercher case, book publishers are falling over themselves to offer her a multi-million pound deal for the memoir.

Knox is said to have impressed publishers with her charm and intelligence.

One publisher said: “Everybody fell in love with her.”

However, others are more cautious and one publisher told the New York Times there were concerns  that now everyone believes Knox is the innocent victim, saying:

“I think it’s a huge gamble for somebody. It’s not like she has been exonerated in a clear and definitive way.”

Meredith Kercher’s family are likely to be upset by the news that Knox will become a millionaire. At the time of her release, Kercher’s father – who called her exoneration “ludicrous” – said he hoped the 24-year-old would not profit from his daughter’s death.

Kercher found with her throat cut in what prosecutors said was a sex game gone wrong.

Knox and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were convicted to 26 and 25 years respectively, although they always pleaded innocent. A third defendant, Rudy Guede, pleaded guilty.

In October 2011, Knox and Sollecito were freed after appealing the verdict due to concerns about the handling of DNA samples used to secure their conviction.
