With the Queen in attendance, England won the toss and Alastair Cook looked the goods, until an early change led to his downfall. Joe Root went not long after and Kevin Pietersen was gone too to leave England reeling at 3-28. Johnathan Trott and Ian Bell steady the ship though. 3-80.
Trott and Bell were loving it until Trott fell for a short ball trap. Johnny Bairstow got involved now – he’s cleaned up by a Peter Siddle bullet, but it was a no ball. 4-183
Final session saw it all leaning in England’s favour. Bairstow hit 50 and Bell hit 100 before Steve Smith came on to get rid of three more wickets. 7-289 make it Australia’s day.
