Cameron White, who returned to the national side for the first time since 2012, hit a brilliant 75 from 43 balls, helping the new-look home side to a formidable 4-213 after they won the toss and batted.

Needing to equal their highest T20 international total, England never really looked in it, and endured a disastrous start in which they lost three wickets for seven runs in 13 balls.

Ravi Bopara put up some fight with seven sixes in an unbeaten 65 from 27 balls, England’s fastest T20 fifty, in their 200-9.

“I’ve enjoyed batting at the top of the order in T20 cricket in the past 12 months,” White said.

“It’s nice to be back, I’ve worked hard to get the opportunity to be back playing for Australia.”

Here’s something for England fans to think about – if the men adopted the Women’s Ashes points system the score would now be 40-2 Australia.
