Speaking at the launch of a new initiative which is aiming to help ethnic minority males achieve, the President of the United States warned young men that ‘nothing will be given to you’.

According to Sky News, Mr Obama told the assembled crowd that there could be ‘no excuses’ as competition for jobs and places at universities was tough.

“I made bad choices. I got high, not always thinking about the harm it could do,” he said. “I didn’t always take school as seriously as I should have. I made excuses. Sometimes I sold myself short.”

The President’s new initiative, My Brother’s Keeper, aims to give boys and young men of colour the opportunity to achieve and ‘unlock their full potential’.
