Rumours that Beyonce will be headlining the Pyramid stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival are swirling like so many psychedelic guitar riffs!
If the gossip’s true, Beyonce may join U2 and Coldplay as headline acts for the mega-festival’s 2011 bill.
Organiser Michael Eavis fuelled the rumours when he let slip that the Sunday night headliner would be “an American artist that I’ve been wanting for yonks and yonks”.
If it happens, it won’t be Beyonce’s first trip to Glastonbury. The bootylicious singer was there three years ago to cheer on her hubby Jay-Z as he introduced the hallowed festival to hip hop for the very first time.
One person who might not be best pleased with this potential development is Oasis’ Noel Gallagher who railed against the inclusion of Jay Z on the Glasters bill in 2008.
“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” he fulminated at the time. “If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.
“Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”
Still, what can you expect from a man who is out-plonked only by his brother Liam?
