Justin Bieber and Eminem were big winners at 2011’s Billboard Music Awards, with both artists scooping six awards each.
Eminem won Top Artist, Top Male Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album, while Bieber scooped the Billboard.com Fan Favourite Award and the Top New Artist Award.
Rihanna was hailed Radio Artist of the Year and Female Artist of The Year, while Taylor Swift won Billboard 200 Artist of the Year and Country Artist of the Year.
Collecting her award, Swift said: “I used to watch the Billboard Music Awards and see my heroes like Shania Twain and Faith Hill win this,”
Beyonce performed her new tune Run the World (Girls), before taking home the Billboard Millennium Award. The singer was praised by Barbra Streisand, First Lady Michelle Obama, Bono and Stevie Wonder in a video montage.
U2 were given the Tourising Award for their 360 Tour, while Neil Diamond was given the Billboard Icon Award.
“I don’t know exactly what it means to be an icon, but I always wanted to be one,” he said.
