‘Five at five’
Five drinks and five snacks for £25 – we’re sold anyways, but throw in a sweet view of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the City skyline and we’re powerless to resist. The Stadium View Bar & Terrace at the Holiday Inn Stratford City is now offering this perfect post-work pick-me-up between 5pm and 7pm every day.
The ‘Five at Five’ menu includes wine, beer and tapas-style light bites such as cheese and jalapeno dough balls, barbecue chicken wings and nachos. Eating is not cheating here.
Foodie flutter
Mark September 7 in your diary: it’s the Festival of Food and Wine Raceday at Ascot. Take time between races to sample the best produce the local area has to offer and get advice on how to pair wine with any purchases. Celeb chef James Martin (Saturday Kitchen) will also be there, giving live cooking demos and putting together a special menu for the Windsor Forest Restaurant. Raceday tickets start at £16pp. Gambling and grub – what could go wrong?
BBQ with Banksy
Try a barbecue with a Brit twist this summer – Primrose Hill pub The Princess of Wales has a beer garden that’s home to a true Banksy (above), which ‘mysteriously appeared’ in June 2011. It’s currently £12 for a barbecue buffet in the ‘Banksy beer garden’ and 2-4-1 cocktails between 6pm and 8pm.
