Chinese treats

Celebrate Chinese New Year this week with Opium’s feast of food, cocktails and mystical treats.

From Thursday ‘til Saturday, this Chinatown dim sum and cocktail parlour ushers in the Year of the Snake with its luxury fare (think mushroom and truffle dumplings) and seasonal drinks infused with Oriental herbs, plus entertainment in the form of astrology readings, illusion and mind-magic, and even a new year snake show (shudder).

On Saturday, there’ll be an all-day bash from noon until midnight.

There’s a cover charge of £10 on each day of the celebrations.

Brand new brunch

Sick of queuing outside The Breakfast Club? Well now there’s a new brunch coming to town that’s got us a bit excited.

Apero, a great little hideaway in the Ampersand hotel in South Kensington, is now serving up classy takes on trad brunch dishes, such as steak and eggs (£14.50), between 12pm and 2.30pm at weekends.

They blend some brilliant in-house cocktails too (try the Italian mimosa with limoncello and prosecco).

Win wine!

Fancy some free wine?

Who doesn’t! Spitalfields’ specialist Italian wine bar Super Tuscan is launching a weekly Wednesday wine challenge from February 13, where a wine tasting test based around a flight of four wines could win you another flight of four absolutely free. Nice.

Tickets are £15pp and should be booked in advance from the bar. From 6pm-7.45pm.
