The Belgians know how to do food really well. Hearty meals are the order of the day with thick sauces accompanying meaty dishes. Soup is a top choice and waterzooi is a national favourite – a watery broth served with chicken or fish.

Seafood is also popular and mussels are a great dish and readily available. Sweet-tooths will be in heaven with all the chocolate that Bruges has to offer.

Drink

Beer, beer and more beer is the order of the day when in Bruges. Order a Kwak for a great photo opportunity as the unusual hourglass-shaped glass is placed in a special stand.
