No casualties or damage have been reported in the latest in a series of quakes to have hit the area in the past 10 months. It hit 14km northeast of Christchurch at 1.44pm local time and comes just a week after two earthquakes of a similar magnitude struck two days before Christmas Day (pictured).Local residents described the quake as a decent jolt, but there were no immediate reports of a tsunami warning. The city is still recovering from the magnitude 6.3 quake which killed 182 people on February 22 and caused NZ$20million in damage. The city’s cathedral was toppled as were buildings, homes and offices, and areas of the business district still remain off limits.
