Mixed Martial Arts has been around for donkeys, but helped along by the popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and a new testosterone-fuelled flick called Warrior – starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, see intervew – the discipline is springing up in gyms across London.

A full-contact combat sport combining boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, Muay Thai and karate, among other styles, MMA provides excellent cardio and toning fitness for men and women.

Specialising in martial arts training, the London Fight Factory provides a range of MMA classes for those who have studied martial arts before and even train those who want to fight competitively. Absolute beginners, meanwhile, can sign up for ‘back to basics’ lessons on Monday nights.

Pay as you go classes cost £15 each and monthly membership is also available starting at £55 for any two classes a week. There’s also a joining fee of £25. Potential students are welcome to try out one of their classes for free.
