Cricketer Glenn McGrath married his fiancé Sara Leonardi in a secret ceremony at their home in Sydney.
The couple’s luxury waterfront mansion was almost completely shrouded by white sheets, alerting the media to the event.
The wedding was believed to be low-key with only close friends and family invited. No cricketers were reported to have attended.
Despite the couple trying to keep their nuptials a secret the news spread like wildfire on the twittersphere.
“Is it true Glenn McGrath got married today? Wow,” cricket champion Shane Warne Tweeted.”Congrats pigeon hope your (sic) happy champion.”
The wedding follows McGrath’s whirlwind romance with the 28-year-old Italian-American interior designer.
The two became engaged in July after meeting at a party in Cape Town, South Africa, last year.
The wedding comes two years after McGrath’s first wife Jane died tragically of breast cancer in 2008 leaving McGrath to raise their children Holly and James.
The 40-year-old former champion bowler confessed to Women’s Weekly earlier this year that he feared he would never find love again.
“After Jane passed away, I never thought that I could love another women,” he told the magazine.
“I was adamant about that. I never thought I would fall in love with anyone else, but I am in love with Sara, totally and completely and absolutely.”
