David Beckham has revealed he finds the fusty undergarment long johns as “very cool”.
So cool, in fact, that he is including them in his new underwear range. It’s far removed from the Emporio Armani jocks he once sported in a super hot advertising campaign.
The former England captain turned his hand to fashion design after the success of the campaign, with the company's turnover increasing from £14.1million to £38.7million after Beckham posed in his undies for its ads.
As his underwear range is set to be sold in H&M stores next year, Beckham has vowed to make long john’s cool again.
The 36-year-old fashion icon confessed his love for the garment, with The Sun quoting Beckham as saying: “I sometimes wear them to go to sleep. They're very cool.”
Beckham wants his new underwear line to be representative of his own tastes, adding: “The underwear is totally my designs, things that I like to wear.”
The star admitted he was not sure what his mum would think about him stripping off again.
He said after announcing the underwear venture in May: “I can't wait to show people the collection. Although I'm not sure my mum will be too happy seeing a billboard image of me in underwear again.”
