The new 4G promises download speeds of 14mbps, but the BBC’s technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones has been testing the mobile internet of the future in London and on a journey to Cardiff. During this speed test he came to the conclusion that there has been “some worrying evidence that the speed and extent of the 4G network is being oversold.”
Cellan-Jones found the new 4G phone he collected at EE’s London store delivered staggeringly fast results in their flagship HQ. However, results were less impressive back at the BBC offices, and he again had problems inside Euston Station.
4G is the next generation of mobile internet, delivering download speeds of 14mbps. It is currently the preserve of the EE network alone, but Three could be the next to roll it out to their customers in the new year.
