Dylan, which has now weakened into a tropical low, made landfall near Hideaway Bay as a category two cyclone about 3.30am EST, with winds of up to 140km/h, and it dumped 400mm of rain in some areas.
Fortunately the storm did not coincide with the king tide as initially feared, sparing communities along the north coast from significant flooding.
