Greens co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons is the most trusted party leader and New Zealand First’s Winston Peters the least, a poll released on Tuesday shows.

The TV One/Colmar Brunton poll questioned 1010 voters, asking them to answer `yes’ or `no’ when they were asked whether they trusted six party leaders.

Fitzsimons scored 64 per cent, Prime Minister Helen Clark 59 per cent, National leader John Key 57 per cent, Maori Party co-leader Pita Sharples 54 per cent and ACT’s Rodney Hide 50 per cent.

But only 19 per cent said they trusted Peters, and 75 per cent said they didn’t trust him.

Peters last month faced a select committee inquiry into the $100,000 donation Owen Glenn gave his party.

The committee concluded Peters had presented misleading information and he was censured by Parliament.

He was angry when a TV One reporter asked him to comment on the poll results.

“Every night you go on TV talking about your crappy polls,” he said.

“You come up with these rubbish polls, you don’t take any notice of what I’m saying. Go home.”

The poll was conducted between September 27 and October 2.
