Lotto’s huge $30 million powerball jackpot was not won outright on Saturday — instead being shared by five second division winners.
After all the balls had been drawn, half an hour late because of a technical glitch, no New Zealander had the right combination.
The jackpot prize was not won and so the five winners of the powerball second division shared the huge prize — $6,169,014 each.
The tickets were sold at Wellington’s Whitcoulls Cuba Mall branch, Manukau City Pak ‘N Save, Reefton’s Gold Reef Stationers, Wellington’s Johnsonville J’Mall Lotto and Onehunga Office Supplies (Auckland).
NZ Lotteries’ chief executive Todd McLeay said the five winners scored $6,146,881 with powerball second division, and also won a $22,133 share of Lotto second division, giving them a grand total of $6,169,014.
McLeay added. “We encourage all large prize winners to visit us in Wellington to claim their prize.
“We can protect their privacy and also counsel them on the impact of winning such a life-changing sum of money,” he said.
