Manchester City could sign Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero within hours after the Argentine arrived at Eastlands to meet club officials.
Aguero, whose father-in-law is Diego Maradona, is valued at £35m and showed up at City’s Carrington training ground after cutting short his holiday to finalise contract negotiations and undergo a medical.
“Just arrived in Manchester to finalise the details of signing with City,” Aguero, 23, wrote on Twitter.
“Everything is going very well! I’ll tell you more in a while.”
Aguero is widely seen as the answer to City’s problems in attack, where Carlos Tevez has reiterated his desire to leave the club.
It was reported today that City had reached agreement with Atletico over Aguero following the intervention of club chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak.
Aguero’s transfer will be City’s third signing of the summer following the arrival of Gael Clichy from Arsenal and Stefan Savic from Partizan Belgrade.
