Auckland city pedestrians managed to avoid a pane of glass which fell 12 storeys shortly before 1pm on Wednesday.

The pane, which fell around noon, was the third to fall from AMI House on Wyndham St inside a year, the NZ Herald website reported. Nobody was injured.

A Fire Service spokesman said it did not appear the fall was set off by any people.

An AMI House property manager said there were no issues when the windows were examined after the last fall and it was unclear what caused it to fall.
