Greencoat Boy

2 Greencoat Pl, London, SW1P 1PJ (0871 951 1000)
Tube: St James’s Park

The scene: A little dingy inside but the cellar bar downstairs is spacious enough. However, in summer you don’t come here to sit inside. Crowds congregrate on the streetfront and, when that’s full, along the footpath that runs alongside the pub.

A good place to enjoy some fresh air with your after-work summer beer.

The grub: The usual offering of pub grub. It’s nothing out of the ordinary but the slab of fish provided with the fish and chips was massive and well worth £9.

Behind the bar: All the usual suspects on tap and by the bottle.

Bill please: Pints from £3.70, bottles from £3.70, wines from 3.35 and spirits from £3.10.

Verdict: Not somewhere you’d head for a night out but if you’re in the area, or hanging for a pint after work, you could do worse.
