Between 10am and midnight on March 22, the day after the comedy-musical from the makers of South Park opened, £2,107,972 in tickets were sold.
An additional 150,000 tickets are now up for grabs, with the show at the Prince Of Wales Theatre now booking until January 11, 2014.
The theatre’s owner Cameron Mackintosh said: “After a phenomenal opening night I am delighted to see a phenomenal record-breaking post opening box office of over £2m. The Mormons have truly delivered a heavenly hit!”
The satirical show by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez, is about two young Mormon missionaries who set off wide-eyed to spread the good word in Uganda.
It has won nine Tony Awards and a Grammy Award since it opened on Broadway in 2011.
