The one-day event celebrating all things from the southern hemisphere boasts a line up of top notch talent.
Top of the bill is New Zealand band of brothers KORA (above), a rock-reggae-funk hybrid whose self-titled debut album was released in 2007 and who have been busy touring the world with the genre-smashing multi-stranded music, which has even seen the brothers embrace electronic sounds, dubstep beats and metallic edges into their broad sounds.
They’re supported by South Africa’s Prime Circle, whose classic emotive rock has won them fans from Jo’Burg to London and beyond, and has seen them play with the likes of Metallica, classic-infused alternative rockers Live and even saw them snag a spot at Nelson Mandela’s 2005 46664 concert.
Australia’s very own singer-songwriter sensation Alex Lloyd joins them on the bill. Lloyd’s debut album Black the Sun was voted album of the year by Triple J listeners in 1999, and the versatile musician has gone from strength to success since. His follow up Watching Angels Mend was certified double platinum in 2001, the album’s single Amazing becoming a top forty smash in Australia, a hit in New Zealand and the most played track on Australian radio that year. He has since gone to enjoy a career of critical and commercial success, with the release of his third album Distant Light in 2003, his self-titled long player two years later, and 2008’s Good in the face of a Stranger, widely considered to be Lloyd’s most mature work to date.
Across Homelanz’s two stages are a host of other acts and artists, including New Zealand’s singer-songwriter Anna Coddington, the pop-infused singer Bowie Jane, indie-styled songwriter Glenn Aitken, Jayson Norris, the JT Mills Experience, funk-styled indie rockers Munkinpure and the jazz-sax-metal and rock mash up that it is Melic.
There’ll also be a host of DJs in the silent disco too for the party hard.
