No, we didn’t make that up.
We have FIFA, the world-famous corporate sell-outs, to thank.
Along with partner Hyundai, they’ve announced the winning slogans that will appear on the buses for each of the 32 teams at the World Cup in Brazil next month.
And they reckon people actually voted for them…
Why on earth would anyone vote for that?
Unsurprisingly, social media has lit up.
@Elise_Holman tweeted: “Most cringeworthy yet amusing list of the day. #Brazil2014 team bus slogans. “Hopping our way into history” Really?”
@budgieishere said: “Why we remain the joke of international football”
@fieldproducer piped up: ““Socceroos: Hopping our way into history!” Australia has the lamest team slogan of the World Cup.”
It wasn’t just the Aussies. FIFA has done its best to come up with something terrible for everyone.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s slogan is “Dragons in heart, dragons on the field” – no, we have no idea either – and Cameroon got “A lion is a lion”, while you wouldn’t want to mess with Japan (“Samurai, The time has come to fight!”).
Horrible right? More stereotypes than you can shake a stick at! Although, we thought Holland did alright with “Real men wear Orange”.
