It’s believed a lone suicide bomber detonated an IED (improvised explosive device) at the end of an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena at 10.35pm last night.

22 people are confirmed dead with 59 injured – including children.

The US singer is, of course, devastated tweeting “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words”

Grande had just left the stage as the explosion happened, it seems, timed to coincide with thousands of fans heading for the exits.

Many people are still missing with relatives turning to social media to help find missing loved ones with the hastag #MissingInManchester. The police have set up a helpline for worried family and friends: 0161 856 9400.

The police are also appealing for anyone with any video footage of the scene, before, during and after to upload it at ukpoliceimageappeal.co.uk or ukpoliceimageappeal.com.

All parties have suspended election campaigning. Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has invited people to attend a vigil at Albert Square in Manchester at 6pm this evening in a show of solidarity.
