Simon Cowell has revealed that Mariah Carey will appear on the US X Factor – but he would not confirm if she would be judging or not.
Speaking to US radio host Jackie Brown he said: “I think Mariah will have a role on the TV live shows. I met her recently and she was on great form.
“And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with.”
He then expressed his admiration of the singer: “She’ll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”
Also confirmed on the judging panel along with Cowell is record executive L.A. Reid, former Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group.
Rumours have circulated that other possible judges are Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Simpson and Katy Perry.
Rihanna turned down an offer to be a judge because of touring commitments.
She said: “It’s something that I would have loved to do, actually. But our schedule doesn’t allow it and it’s a demanding schedule to be on that show.
“You have to be around months at a time, which is impossible for me.”

The UK judging panel has not been confirmed yet either, although Ozzy Osborne is rumoured to be replacing Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue.
However, Ozzy has slammed the show in the past, saying: “It’s all about killing music to make light entertainment.
“It should be about music and talent but it’s not.”
