The witness revealed that the policeman came out of a taxi with the gun in his hand.

Other accounts of the crime scene said Duggan was outside the car with the firearm in his hand, before he was killed by gunfire.

The witness wished to remain unnamed, the court heard her statement behind a screen. She was named Miss J for the purpose of the court.  She explained that a police officer removed a body from the back of the minicab and placed it beside some railings:

“I saw officers pull out a body and place it near railings,” explained the witness.

Previous police accounts had described the gun being found on grass 10ft from the railings.

The prosecution explained that the gun was found wrapped in a sock, which contained traces of blood from Kevin Hutchinson-Foster, the man accused of supplying a gun to Duggan.

The witness said she saw the officer who: “seemed like he’d found gold or something.”

She continued: “when he got to the end of the car he put a black cloth over it and pushed it into a bag”.

Hutchinson-Foster pleaded not-guilty to selling or transferring an illegal firearm to Duggan between 28 July-5 August 2011.
