The Mayor’s bike scheme will be make Boris bikes available to all users from Friday, December 3, Transport For London has announced.

At present only registered users who have paid for a £3 key are able to access the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme but from the week after next, casual users will also be able to take advantage of the scheme which has 340 docking stations throughout London.

Anyone with a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card will be able to purchase either 24 hours or seven day usage The Mayor, Boris Johnson told The Metro.

“Now people will be able to just pitch up with a credit card and away they go,” he said.

“It will attract casual users but my hope is that people will try it once and sign up for membership.”

The scheme, which started in July this year, has more than 100,000 members.
