Cancer patient Craig Moore is keen to make swift comeback to Queensland Roar training on Wednesday in a bold bid to play Sydney FC next week.

The Socceroos defender is looking to dip his toe in the water at Ballymore but the club has ruled out an instant playing return in Sunday night’s home clash against Perth Glory.

Moore underwent surgery for testicular cancer Tuesday last week and has been a regular spectator at Roar training this week.

“It gives the boys a boost to see him back on his feet and dealing with what has happened,” said Moore’s close friend and former Glasgow Rangers teammate Charlie Miller.

“Craig will want us to win, we’ll do it for ourselves and for Craig.

“Craig appreciates the support the guys have given him and everyone has given him.

“You have to have a different perspective away from football. Football is not everything, but football is very important and brings a lot of enjoyment to people.”

Sunday night’s clash against the Glory gives the fifth-placed Roar their best chance for a first win at Suncorp Stadium this season.

Queensland have lost their last four matches at home after opening the season with a draw against Adelaide United at Suncorp.
“We’ve been better than other teams in 90 per cent of our home games,” Scotsman Miller said.

“We’re creating chances which is good, and long may the creating chances continue, but we just have to put them in the net.”
